How to Find the Computer You Need

Hi, ever had on of those days when you thought that you would spend a lot of time searching around for really good computer bargains?

I have had that experience many times and have found that I used to waste time doing endless and meaningless searches trying to find what I need. But then, I found a solution!

Figuring out what to search for is half the battle won, but how to figure out whether the prices being displayed were bargain prices was another issue. So how did I solve that problem?

Try and identify first what computer system you need to buy. This really can be a struggle if you are not familiar with computers. You can visit the nearest library to you and speak to a librarian to see whether they have issues of the Computer Shopper magazine. Not only Computer Shopper, but PC Novice and PC Magazine as well. I have found these to be quite useful and effective in helping me decide on the type of system I need.

PC Novice is especially useful because it explains in layman's language what I need to know and gives recommendations on the alternatives to look for. Terms such as motherboard and peripherals are usually explained in detail. You should not worry however if you are not familiar with these terms. Just understand that when you go to purchase your computer, you may find an enthusiastic sales rep asking you - "so how much ram do you need in this computer"; "you think you may need an Intel or AMD processor?"; or, "how many gigabytes do you need for your hard drive? --- Huh???

The magazines I have listed above will help you a great deal but don't get lost with all the geek talk. You will be able to find complete systems available that will be sold with software. Some systems will be sold with the box - the CPU portion, and the monitor. Depending on where you are buying your computer from, the monitor may be at an extra cost. Some systems will be sold with a printer and they will try and sell you a host of other things which are not really necessary.

My advice therefore is to first figure out what you want to do with the computer and do some research!

Shopping around is the next best thing you can do to find the best prices. I usually look at three to four different quotations to see which one matches my budget. Most computers today will do what you want to do. You do not need to get the most expensive system especially if you will only be surfing the Internet and checking email occasionally, so don't go overboard thinking that because you saw your neighbor with this expensive system you need to have one too.

Good luck and happy shopping!!

How to Bring Up Your Children To Become Excellent

Childhood years are the best times to learn. Somehow, a person’s comprehension is at its peak during childhood. Parents should take advantage of these learning years to ingrain the values of life in their children.

If you’re a parent, teach them positive habits so that they will know and see the beauty that life has to offer. Make them enthusiastic about life. Instill into their hearts and minds all the wonders and magnificence of being alive by living life to its fullest in a positive way.

There’s a startling difference between children learning through self-discovery, and children learning through self-discovery with proper guidance. The first things that children learn are usually the things that stay with them and mold formative years until they reach adulthood.

Let us suppose you let your children learn through self-discovery. To a certain extent, self-discovery is good since it develops full independence and self-reliance. However, the learning process might be slow. In a sense, it is like a trial and error experience for children. They have to segregate the good from the bad, the right from the wrong, what they like and what they don’t. It is most likely that what they will like are the ones that come easy to them or the ones that they enjoy the most. And the ones that they enjoy the most might not necessarily be the good ones. Without proper guidance, what they like and enjoy the most might actually be hurting them although they are not aware of it. Perhaps later, if they find out that they picked the wrong choices, it may be too late.

With self-discovery through proper guidance, you will be able to leave room for them to develop independence and self-reliance. At the same time, show them what is right and what is wrong. Explain to them why. If possible, cite instances or examples based on true-to-life events to make them more convincing and realistic. The more realistic they are, the more easily the children are convinced. Likewise, try teaching them in a friendly and humorous atmosphere. Children are more attentive and eager to learn when all (both teachers and students) are in an easy mood. You will know and feel their eagerness to learn through the sparkle in their eyes and by the way they answer your questions. You can be sure that what they learn from you is acceptable to them and will stay with them. That is why, as a parent, you must show enthusiasm in life to your children.

There’s a third method of making children learn. That is through proper guidance leaving negligible room for self-discovery. But there are drawbacks. You take away from them the benefits of self-reliance and independence. The guidance you devote to them may be good and well intended, but they must not rely on you on almost everything they do. They become decision-dependent on you. There are instances wherein this type of guidance might be worse than giving no guidance at all.

There are parents who underwent hardships during their childhood, strived, and became successful financially. Although they are financially in the position to guide and assist their children to a better life, they prefer that their children undergo the same difficult experience they underwent during their younger years. Their reason: so that their children will value and experience the same things they went through. This may be applicable to stubborn and rebellious youngsters, but not to disciplined ones. Why must their sons and daughters repeat the same difficulties? There’s no reason to. This is like punishing the innocent. Instead of repeating the experience, they should learn from it. Life is too short to repeat unsavory experiences.

One of the best ways to broaden your children’s knowledge about life is by traveling. The world - its varied people, places, and cultures - has a lot of information to offer. It is perhaps as important as the conventional classroom. If you are financially able, traveling is one of the best educational experiences you can give your children. Look for exhibits or world fairs, and take your children there. Books are the next best things. It’s traveling by reading.

Fill your children with thoughts of self-importance, confidence, and positive attitude so that there will be no room for negative thinking. More importantly, fill their world with laughter, love, and understanding. You‘ll never go wrong.

How to think

My thinking has always been provoked by means of counteraction to my attempts to become a part of the system, society and world. When the situations began pouring out in order to tumble down all my plans and dreams, then my ordinary question arose – why things did not happen the way I wanted them to happen, the way I have already planed them. The doubt to the direction and going of my whole life emerged. There was no answer to this question but I had to know why. The first aim came up then – I had to know everything. I wondered if that was possible at all.

Encouraged by constant attempts of system agents to convince me that achieving my aims was impossible and that I am on a wrong way, I entered the endless wandering, searching for things, completely unknown at the present time. There was nobody to show me the right way, there was no help. Everything was wraped up in lies and absorbed in dense darkness. One person’s breakaway is not any problem for the system. This happened many times in the ages and the problem has always been solved but this time things did not happen that way and I did not know why, as the answers are more than one. Though I have started thinking, constantly and purposefully in fact, I did not know how to think and what a ‘mental process’ represents and where it happens. I have already specified that many mental processes were going in my mind, concerning other people’s problems and searching for their solution. It was interesting that those processes were running through my mind, were bothering me but I could not stop them. From that I reached a conclusion that there were things happening inside me, which were not mine. My private space was used by other people and there was no free space for me left. I could not manage to use my own things. My mind was like an unfenced courtyard.

The human attempts to think collide with the first problem – the intruders or the vampires. A human needs free space in order to think. What follows is that we have to free ourselves from the intruders. That happens by means of thought for the way of achieving it. No one leaves voluntary, no one will leave you alone just like that.

In order to get rid of the intruders, you will need to be hard and uncompromising. For the one determined to think, situations come up over and over again. For him the concept boredom and the statement – ‘I do not have anything to do’, do not exist. These are the excuses of the lazy one. Each situation can be an attack and a test at the same time. Each situation helps me to recognize my restrictions, to improve my thinking, to see the level I have reached and my capabilities at the moment.

From this point of view, I have provoked each situation that I am at in a way the desire to take part in it is mine, too.

The difference between the independent thinker and the one who does not think, is unnoticeable and the line between them is very fine. The mind of the not thinking person is programmed to be ruled by external factors. The rise of one event starts a program for reaction. If the program detects a given catchword, it will recall the one, which is recorded for recollection in conformity with the one perceived, but only this catchword, not any other. This applies to all kinds of actions, programmed to reproduce, in conformity with the recognized by the programmed mind in the situation.

At the beginning of independent thinking, things do not become particularly different. The difference here is that the same programs for thinking are started by the person himself, not by external factors and the programs for starting programs.

This process continues for a long time which can bring to despair. Programs for thinking accomplish the process of thinking, that is to say mediators. I will call this complex thinking. These programs are of different kind – for perception, for consideration, for conservation or preservation, for operation...

Despite all this, the first success is at hand – we have started to take control of our mind. But in order to think clearly, without mediators, and to take full control of our mind, we need to remove the programs and the mediators, to simplify our thought, to clear our mind from the useless things...

How To Burn Fat With Foods That Boost Metabolism

Foods that boost metabolism is a hot topic among those interested in losing fat and keeping it off. The word metabolism refers to how you digest and convert food into energy. If you have a fast metabolism you will burn calories more easily than someone with a slow metabolism. By eating foods that boost metabolism you will burn more calories and more fat much easier.

When it comes to foods that boost metabolism and help you burn more fat off your body the first step is not choosing which foods to eat but rather when and how often to eat them. I say this because the average person has 2 or 3 big meals that only aid in weight gain with a few snacks in between (hopefully not a bag of potato chips or a chocolate bar!), with next to no foods that boost metabolism.

The single biggest change you can make to your diet before buying foods that boost metabolism is to eat small frequent meals instead of an almost non-existent breakfast and a lunch that leaves you tired and moody, followed by cravings, and a supper that that can leave you bloated and wreak havoc with the quality of your sleep. Frequent small meals means your body has to use more energy to break down and utilize the food which can keep your metabolism elevated continuously, especially when you eat foods that boost metabolism often.

Now the question is, what are the foods that boost metabolism which you can eat to help you burn fat and lose weight? Something that’s often ignored is protein foods such as eggs, cottage cheese, chicken breast, tuna fish and lean cuts of beef. Eating protein foods has the greatest metabolic boost compared to any other food, and will also help you build muscle when combined with strength training. As one of the best foods that boost metabolism, protein should ideally be eaten at every meal.

Aside from quality sources of protein other foods that boost metabolism and help you burn fat are natural carbohydrates such as oats, grains, vegetables and fruits. Our society is now plagued with processed carbohydrate foods packed with refined sugars and cooked in unhealthy fats, and this is exactly why obesity is at an all time high. Foods that boost metabolism will do wonders if you replace these foods.

When you replace white rice, for example, with a sweet potato, which is not heavily processed, your body has to do a lot more work to break it down and use it for energy.
Natural carbohydrate are not only examples of foods that boost metabolism, but in addition many vegetables and fruits are very low in calories and high in fibre. You can eat a lot of these foods as they are low in calories and fill you up easily, which means you will eat less of the foods that are more calorie-dense, helping you lose fat, which is the result you want from foods that boost metabolism.

Other foods that boost metabolism include spices and other foods you can add to your meals for that hot flavor. Such foods include ginger, cinnamon and cayenne pepper. The theory is that these are very thermogenic, meaning they raise your body’s internal temperature, which results in your body using more calories for energy instead of storing them as fat. This is the reason why they come under the list of foods that boost metabolism.

As well as eating foods that boost metabolism, you can also achieve this goal by drinking several cups of green tea daily. Green tea boosts metabolism, and also has cancer-preventing properties, as well as other health benefits. I am assuming here that you drink plenty of water, which is essential for healthy weight loss. In addition to regular exercise along with a healthy diet of foods that boost metabolism this combination will help you melt the fat off and feel years younger.

How to Increase Your Conversion Rates By Up to 500% Using the Free Google Website Optimizer

Google recently released a new tool called the "Google Website Optimizer". Those familiar with testing conversion rates know that the best way to do this is to "split test". Google Website Optimizer makes split testing multiple variations of a page surprisingly easy and efficient.

For those of you who don't know what split testing is, let me explain..

Say you have a page setup for gathering leads, it consists of a header, a few short bullet points, your lead capture form and your footer. Let's say this original page has a conversion rate of 6% - for every 100 visitors the page recieves, 6 of them fill out the form and submit it.

When you split test, you create numerous variations of this original page, each variation being slightly different (usually only 1 change per variation). So, in one variation you might change the header, in another you might change the bullet points and so on. You then use a split testing script that rotates your traffic to one of these various pages you've setup. You continue this process until you find the best converting combination possible. For a normal lead capture, most people aim for 30-45% before retiring their efforts.

With Google Website Optimizer, you can test all combinations of your page at once.

Here's how it works..

First, you supply the original page you'd like to create variations of; this can be a lead capture, a sales page, whatever page leads to a conversion of some sort. Next, you supply the successful conversion page. For a lead capture, your conversion page would be your thank you page, for a sales process, it may be the "thanks for your order" page and so on.

Now you're able to break the page you want to test into as many different sections as you'd like by inserting simple javascript into the page. For a common lead capture page, you might break it into a header, bullet points, lead capture form, and footer, but it's entirely up to you how many sections you want to use.

After you've broken down your page into sections, it's now time to create variations of each of the different sections.

The first site I tried with Google Website Optimizer was an old lead capture page that I hadn't got around to optimizing. I broke the page into 4 sections (header, bullet points, form, and footer).

I then created 1 variation for each section. For the header, I tried a shorter version of the header with slightly different wording. For the bullet points, I tried shortening them and getting rid of one of the bullet points. For the form, I created a version with a custom question field (the original is just name/email). And for the footer variation, I added a post script that said, "P.S - You will only see this page once, so don't miss out on this one time offer!".

The results are in!

After letting it run for roughly 3 days and a few hundred visitors, I successfully took the original conversion rate of 6% and increased it by over 500%! That means I'm now seeing a conversion rate of 30% - all it took was 15 minutes of my time to setup the Google Website Optimizer.

So what was the best combination?

The winning combination was the original header, the shorter bullets with one removed, the original form, and the footer that had the added post script.

I'm going to continue testing this page with a few different variations and see if I can't get it closer to a 50% conversion rate.

So what does this mean to my bottom line?

Well, if this were a PPC campaign I would have just cut my cost per conversion by 500%. If that was a large budget campaign, that could mean saving thousands of dollars per month.

Overall, I have to say, the Google Website Optimizer is a great product, and the fact that it's free for Adwords advertisers is even better. Now if only they could clean up their search results..but that's a topic for a different story.
